Why it works the way it does.
Telecom and IT generate enormous quantities of electronic waste and India recycles very little of it safely. A large share is stripped informally, by hand, by people who are poisoned doing it.
Second Life takes end-of-life equipment from companies, routes what can be reused into refurbishment for our device libraries, and sends the rest to certified recyclers with a certificate issued back to the donor.
We are candid that this is partly an obligation. Our parent company creates this waste; taking responsibility for it is not charity.
